Two Girls Sit Bored On The Floor At Wedding Reception In Destination Wedding In Puerto Vallarta

We appreciate small everyday moments. We pay attention to what others ignore, we are interested in all the things that happen when nothing seems to be happening, and we believe beauty is found everywhere, even in the imperfect.

For us, your wedding is an opportunity to create a portrait of you and the ones you love. The celebration and gathering may be a one-time occasion, but we seek to capture something that will go beyond it. Personalities. Relationships. Those little things, moments and gestures that could go unnoticed but make of you who you are.

- ABOUT US [FAQ] -

We find that popular concepts or ideas are somewhat limiting when describing what we do. It also seems that commonly used words have different meanings depending on where you look. We know it can get confusing, especially if you've done some research and everyone is using the same terms but showing you something different.

So we'll keep it simple. WE ARE OUR STYLE.

Instead of trying to categorize ourselves, following trends or imitating others, in our work we find an honest representation of who we are, what we think about love, about weddings, life, relationships, photography, and cinema. We have a personal connection with what we do, and as a result images and sounds have become the language that we speak. By being honest with ourselves first is that we can create work that portrays our clients and their weddings from a very honest and authentic perspective.

We are very laid back, very discreet, and non-obstrusive. Even though we see both our Films and Photography as separate artforms where we are not trying to pursue exactly the same with one or the other, they do share our same philosophy at the time of shooting.

You could say that our approach is very documentary, photojournalistic, and candid. Not only do we try our best not to attract any attention to us, but we also feel the most comfortable by just capturing life as it unfolds. We don't pose. We don't direct.

We observe. We feel. We capture.

If you want some advice on how to get the best photography or film from us, we'd say just be yourself. Oh, and feel free to ignore us. We'll be the happiest if you, your friends, and family treat us like air.

We don't attempt to portray our clients like super stars, or like high-end models, even though they may well be. We prefer to portray our clients in a more personal way: as the kind of people they are, as close friends with those around them, as family members, as a son, or as a daughter.

We don't mind your personality, how you look, your style, or if your wedding will be big, small, in the most remote part of the world, or in your backyard. We don't mind if you plan your wedding following a trend, or if you want to make it totally unique. We are okay regardless of the ceremony type, or if there's no speeches, vows, or even party. If you connect with our work and you decide to trust us then nothing else matters.

We find our main creative inspiration outside weddings. We love to see photography from both, the masters in history and contemporary artists. We watch cinema from all around the world, from all genres, from both past and present. We particularly love work from those who have pushed the boundaries of both of these artforms.

It's a long list, but to keep it short we'll say that we love documentary and street photography. The notion of composition, geometry, and the decisive moment of Henri Cartier-Bresson. The humor and the absurd in the photography of Elliott Erwitt. The freedom, breaking of rules, tension, challenging of the aesthetics in the photography of Robert Frank. The color, composition, and layers of Alex Webb. We are fans of the spontaneous approach of Daniel Arnold. Constantine Manos, David Alan Harvey, Meyerowitz, Winogrand, Doisneau, Koudelka... they all have made work that inspire us in a way or another.

In Cinema we have to mention the complex yet very poetic perspective of Tarkovsky. His ideas of life and cinema. The way his whole being appears in his work is truly an inspiration. Bella Tarr and cinema as a way to explore and know more about life and the human condition. The whole idea of non-actors and the use of the cinema language by Carlos Reygadas. The importance of the journey, often times more than the destination by Theo Angelopoulos. The breaking of rules by Godard. The way Lars von Trier also defied all the established before him, and continues the challenge the both the industry and the boundaries of cinema language. The rawness in the films of Michael Haneke. Lucrecia Martel and all of her ideas on sound. All of their different perspectives on the portrayal of time and space as foundational blocks in filmmaking. Tsai Ming Liang and his very unique approach to telling stories. Victor Erice, Jose Luis Guerín, Chantal Akerman, Joshua Oppenheimer, and the whole idea that there doesn't have to be a difference between fiction and documentary.

We could write about where we find inspiration non-stop 🙂

We are based in Mexico!

Still, most of our weddings involve travel in a way or another. If you are interested in having us for your day, please let us know the details of your location and we'll send you a customized pricing list that will already include travel.

By the way, Robert speaks speaks spanish, Sunny speaks Chinese, so you can also reach out to us in any of these languages.

ROBERT OBERG is Sunny and Robert. We'll be the ones shooting your day, we'll be the ones in communication with you throughout the booking process, and we'll be the ones editing and delivering the material.

Both of us are just as skilled in shooting photography and video. The work you see we are producing truly does not require more shooters, and we are comfortable working just the two of us without sacrificing anything on terms of quality or deliverables. Depending on the size of your wedding, or if the groom will be in a different location for half of the day, more coverage may be something that interests you - especially in photography. We have several associate shooters that we trust and could shoot with us if needed, but please let us know the details and we'll advise the best for your specific event.

For sure! One thing you have to consider, however, is the working approach of the other photographer or videographer. We are very good collaborating and communicating with other vendors, but since we are very much into capturing the reality of your wedding day as it happens, you may not want to have someone directing you, telling you what to do, and posing you non-stop all day long.

But hey, if you are okay with that then we don't have any issue. We'll capture whatever happens in any case. Let us know if you need advise on this area.

If you live in Tampico, Mexico, or if we happen to be somewhere close to you, this may or may not be an option. In any case, we'll be glad to have a Facetime or Skype call with you. If you prefer communicating with us through emails only we are also okay with that.

Having a video call or in-person meeting prior to your wedding is not a requirement - unless your planner is the one who found us, the one who is handling your communication with vendors, or the only one who will be in touch with us from beginning to end. In that case, yes, we'd love to at communicate personally with you at least once.

To book your wedding date we ask for a 50% first payment and the signing of your contract. We take a limited number of weddings every year, so we suggest your ask for your date ASAP to make sure we still have availability.

- ABOUT OUR FILMS [FAQ] -

Our main production is either a short film (which is about 5 minutes), or a feature film (which is about 15 minutes). We also have options to deliver full length edits of the ceremony, speeches, rehearsal dinners, or other events of your wedding. The length of the delivered video will vary depending on what you choose.

Music selection is one of those little things that we truly care a lot about. We believe that wedding filmmaking is not only having music set to nice imagery, but instead we prefer using audio as a tool that enhances the experience of watching your wedding as a cinema piece. In some cases music may not even be a necessary element, the audio of your day together with the captured images may be enough to create that connection and emotion we are seeking in our work.

In order for us to make a memorable film that allows us total creativity, we ask for you to trust us on using music and audio as we find fit.

While we ask for creative freedom in making your wedding film, we do take special requests on consideration. In the end, our goal is truly to make you a piece that will go over your expectations.

All of our packages include edited/completed work only.

Every shot in our films is used intentionally in the context that we place it. Adding, removing, or moving around pieces affects the overall meaning, narrative, and structure. Because of the form of our work, we understand that there may be footage that we capture in your day that will not make it to the final film. This is the reason we offer full length edits of the main events such as the ceremony, speeches, or special dances. If there is anything else that you may want to have captured and delivered in full, talk to us and let us know the details. Communication is super important to us, just the same as setting and fulfilling your expectations.

Delivery of RAW files is an add-on option we DO have available.

- ABOUT OUR PHOTOGRAPHY [FAQ] -

Our main approach and what we are best at is taking candid, street-like, documentary photography. However we totally understand that couple portraits and group photos with family and friends may also be important to you in your wedding day. We don't have any issue with taking those shots. Not at all! You have us as photographers for your day, so we'd love to serve you and capture anything that you'd love to have.

If you hire us for your day, however, we do advise to limit these kind of shots to a short timeframe. That way you can truly take advantage of the perspective, coverage, and kind of photography that only we can give you.

We are sure that many of your 'details' and 'special items' will appear in our photos as part of your wedding. We much more prefer to capture them as part of the context of the day, instead of taking a photo of them alone. But if this important to you the same as the above applies: if you want for us to take a photo, we'll do it.

Do keep in mind that we won't be asking for your dress to hang it on a tree or spend a lot of time arranging your shoes, jewelry, or invitation. If you want these shots of details, we would really appreciate it if you ask your friend or your planner to have them set up first thing in the day while you are starting to get ready. Do let us know of this. Our priority will always be to capture life and unrepeatable moments, we truly don't want to miss any of that.

We much more prefer a spontaneous approach to photography. We love anticipating moments and capturing those pieces of life that are not always planned but can make beautiful photographs. Because of this, having a shot list with us would be more of a hindrance to our process and would not let us focus on capturing something that truly represents what our work stands for.

Our photography post-production is very minimal. Mostly, we adjust things like light, shadow, contrast, color, tone and/or saturation. We are not trying to follow trends on style or color, we rather prefer to figure out what works best for every specific situation. Other than that, we don't do extra retouching to change anyone's appearance. We prefer not to manipulate reality beyond what is captured.

In our eyes, everyone is equal. We don't judge by the looks, and we believe there is beauty in everyone's uniqueness. This is part of what makes us all who we are, this is part of what makes us human, and this is also what we seek in our photography.

Every wedding is different, the events on your day may be very spread out or they may all happen in a very short timeframe. Plus we are very selective in our shooting process. We don't shoot without thinking, so to speak. It is because of this that we are more concerned about quality over quality, and can't say exactly how many photographs we will deliver. We can tell you that at the very least you will have between 30 to 50 photos per hour of our attendance. We deliver these full resolution and with a printing release.

We see culling and editing as an essential part of our process. We deliver everything that meets our standards, and we don't let jobs go unfinished.
