Glimpse of Light

Man With Cake In Quinta El Arrayan Tampico Captured By Photographer And Guests In Background

MEXICO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

It’s already been about four years that we moved from Dallas, Texas down to Tampico. Surprisingly, we’ve been shooting more all over Asia than in our own home country, Mexico. And it’s been amazing, don’t get me wrong. Never in our wildest dreams we thought we’d be shooting weddings in Kyoto, Bali, Phuket, Vietnam, amazing cities around China… but there’s just something special about Mexico weddings that we’ve been wanting to capture. We do hope that our documentary wedding photography, which we only introduced recently, will create more opportunities towards that direction. For now, though, we are super excited to be sharing with you this beautiful wedding we photographed just outside Tampico, just few minutes away from home, in a small city called Altamira.

I think no matter what kind of wedding it is, there’s beauty to be found when people are open to show themselves as they really are. That’s one of our goals with wedding photography, actually: capturing reality and how special it is. Our approach is very natural, without posing, without giving direction, we just let life flow and we are witnesses of big, small, and in-between moments with our cameras in hand. The resulting imagery is very real, raw, and honest.

We are so honored and humbled to be able to find people like Estefany and Carlos. They are so transparent as a couple, so in love with one another, and so appreciative of all their guests and family. Honestly, their emotion on the wedding would irradiate in such a natural way that we were even surprised when looking at the photos later and finding that everyone was so full of joy. Capturing their day was a blast for us and also made us super happy.

Here goes a note for wedding photographers and camera people. We are shooting Fuji! I am on a Fuji Xpro-3 and an X100V, Sunny shoots on two XT4 cameras. I am thinking of maybe writing some posts in the future that could be a bit more technical, because we have learned some new things on dynamic range and color thanks to shooting weddings with Fuji. Our entire wedding photography work on the site has been shot on the Classic Negative film simulation, which is not the easiest or most predictable, but we really have found ways to make it work for us.

We hope you enjoy some of our personal favorite shots at this wedding!
